CEs and Surveys

Continuing Education Credits

Providers can earn one Continuing Education credit (CE) for each hour of instruction. However CE issuing organizations may vary by state depending on the training. Anyone can attend any training (although early registration for state-funded trainings is offered to in-state providers.) It is your responsibility to check with your state licensing provider to determine what is accepted. Each state has specific criteria about what qualifies as continuing education —always check with your state licensing board.

CE Issuing Organizations

For Nationwide Trainings funded through the Center for Deployment Psychology

  • The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) issues CEs for all states. CDP is authorized to issue CEs by the American Psychological Association, the Association of Social Work Boards and the New York State Education Department Professional State Boards for both Psychologists and Social Workers. Learn more at https://deploymentpsych.org/STAR-CE-Memos.

For Indiana Trainings funded through the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration, Division of Mental Health & Addiction

  • CEs are issued by the Indiana Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA), Division of Mental Health & Addiction. FSSA is approved to provide Category I (formal) Continuing Education for HSPP, LSW, LCSW, LMHC, and LMFT. These Indiana-funded trainings are open to everyone, and you can distinguish them on the training website by clicking the “view details” link on the workshop description. Additional questions can be directed to sbhpadmin@purdue.edu.

For Ohio Trainings administered by the Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation

  • The Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation is authorized to issue CEs by The State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist (OCSWMFT) Board (approved for Counselors and Social Workers), The Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals (OCDP) Board, The Ohio Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. How to Earn CEs for In-Person Trainings

To earn CEs for an in-person training you must:

  • Attend the entire training,
  • Sign in/out as instructed and
  • Complete the CE Survey sent via email after the training (see surveys for details). For trainings sponsored by Indiana and Ohio, CE certificates are automatically sent after successfully completing the training.

How to Earn CEs for Online Trainings

To earn CEs for an online training you must:

  • Attend the entire training
  • Log into the virtual classroom with your first and last name
  • Complete the CE survey (See surveys for details) sent via email after the training. For trainings sponsored by Indiana and Ohio, CE certificates are automatically sent after successfully completing the training.

CE Certificates Through E-mail or the Provider Portal

CE certificates are sent via email to the email used at registration within 30 days after all course requirements have been completed. If you have not received your CE certificate within 30 days, please check your spam filter. Some email servers will misdirect them there. There is a 30-day time limit post-training to complete all CE requirements.

Those on the Star Providers directory or who are eligible to join have access to the Provider Portal and can download their CE certificate(s) from the portal. CE certificates are generally available for download within a day of completing the requisite survey. CEs earned on or before May 7, 2024 will not be in the portal and would necessitate an email request.

For assistance, please contact the CDP Continuing Education Administrator at sbhpsupport-ggg@usuhs.edu. Please note that it may take up to two weeks to process and replace lost certificates.

The Center for Deployment Psychology is solely responsible for all aspects of continuing education including content development, delivery, evaluation administration, record keeping and promotional material.

Surveys

SBHP needs your feedback to validate and document the usefulness of both the training and directory to effectively address the behavioral health challenges veterans, service members and their families encounter. As part of your participation, you will be asked to complete 3-4 surveys via email:

  • Pre-training survey
  • Post-training survey
  • CE Survey (not applicable to Indiana and Ohio trainings)

Each survey should take between 10 and 20 minutes. All aspects of the surveys are completely confidential.

Please note that to be marked as having successfully completed a training for purposes of being eligible to join the directory and take future trainings, you must complete all surveys listed above.
