Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) was established in July 2013 through the consolidation of the former departments of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services and Mental Health. As a Cabinet-level state agency, OhioMHAS oversees a statewide mental health and alcohol, drug and gambling addiction service system that consists of community behavioral health agencies, 53 county-based boards and six regional psychiatric hospitals. OhioMHAS’ mission is “to provide statewide leadership of a high quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by all Ohioans.” The Department’s vision is to “be a national leader in implementing a comprehensive, accessible and quality-focused system of addiction and mental health care and wellness for all Ohio citizens.”

The Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation (OVC), located in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Ohio State, conducts research, provides education and develops programs to improve the quality of life of persons who experience traumatic brain injury (TBI). OVC serves individuals, families and professionals throughout North America.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross‘ unwavering commitment to members of the U.S. military, its veterans and their families continues to grow and develop more than a century after Clara Barton first recruited nurses to support the U.S. Army. Today, the Red Cross is meeting the needs of a changing military and is expanding services to veterans. The American Red Cross offers multiple skill-building opportunities to help service members and veterans — as well as their families and support system — identify and cope effectively with the unique challenges that arise before, during and after a deployment.
OhioCares
OHIOCARES is a collaboration of state and local agencies supporting the behavioral health of returning OIF/OEF veterans and their families. Although the VA is the primary source of services for veterans, this partnership identifies community-based resources also available to veterans and their families. OHIOCARES’ purpose is to enhance the “safety net” community of behavioral health services available for military personnel and their families and to complement the services available through the Department of Veterans Affairs and Vet Centers by linkages with county alcohol, drug and mental health boards and behavioral health care providers.
