group 2 One of the cornerstones of the Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) initiative is the offering of evidence based training which focuses on the needs and challenges of military service for both the service member and his or her family. This training, geared toward the licensed behavioral health professional, places specific emphasis on understanding the uniqueness of treating someone with needs specific to the military. The courses available throughout this training were created by the respected Center for Deployment Psychology.

CDP The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) prepares health professionals to better meet the deployment-related emotional and behavioral health needs of military personnel and their family members. Established in 2006 with funds from the Defense Graduate Psychology Education Program (D-GPE) program, the CDP is an innovative Department of Defense training consortium combining live presentations with online learning resources and ongoing consultation to provide state-of-the-art education and training to professionals. The CDP is headquartered at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. The CDP is a Tri-Service Center training psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health interns/residents, and other behavioral health professionals from the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as civilian professionals, to provide high quality deployment-related behavioral health services to military personnel and their families.

Trainings offered through SBHP are offered in different regions throughout the Michigan. This is done to allow behavioral health professionals from across the state to have access to this training without the burden of substantial travel. Trainings are one day for Tier One or two days each for Tiers Two and Three. Trainings are at no cost to participants. Trainings without enough attendees registered will be cancelled. Those who have registered will be notified of the cancellation.
